RECIPE AND METHOD FOR CARAMEL SQUARES ☺

Method
The week before cookery:
1.       Immerse 2 cans of unopened condensed milk in a pot of boiling water with a lid on it. Boil & simmer the cans for 3 hours. Make sure the entire can is covered in water, if not just top up with boiling water from the kettle.  After 3 hours remove from water & leave to cool (its best to do 6 cans at a time as you don’t want to waste fuel & they last for months unopened)
In cookery class

fun week

This week I had work experience day 2 in my chosen Pharmacy. Again I left at 8.30 and was in for 9, packing away the delivery and sorting out trays. It was extremely busy because it was the start of October and they had to change all the dates of prescriptions.

I got the job of removing any medication with the date 10/2014. It was fun but very tiring because I had to run around the medication stalls. I did that up until my break where I got toast. I was then given trays and prescriptions to stamp all the way up to my lunch break. ME and Gemma went to Zest to see sarah and we got carbonara which was very nice.

When i came back I was asked to clean the kitchen and collect any cups or plates left around the pharmacy which I did. So when I finished cleaning, I swept the floors and put away all the cups and glasses into their assigned places.

The day went extremely fast and before I knew it I was allowed leave. Thursday we had our opening school mass where we all sang in the choir. We also had our funwalk but I had to leave early so i missed all the dances and the walk :((

This morning it was lashing rain out and me laura and aoife got soaked walking to school so we had to go home and change into our p.e tracksuit, this was quite exciting.

bye for now

Work Experience ✔

On Wednesday the 24th we all started Work Experience in our chosen weeks also my birthday. I chose to do mine in a pharmacy in Clane. I really enjoyed my first day more than I thought I would. Everyone there has a different job. My supervisor stayed with me for the day and showed me all the different things to do. He came to collect me at 8.30 before we went to the Pharmacy. I was nervous but really excited to start.

When we arrived I first met the owner, and then some of the workers and last I met the Pharmacist. Gemma from class Aurora was also working in the chemist so that was fun! My first task was to pack away the delivery that was delivered at 9am. That didn't take too long so then I was shown around the pharmacy before they opened up. My supervisor gave me the job of organising the trays of medication for many of the customers. I really enjoyed this because it gave me the chance to learn about the different medication they have to take and ask any questions. After my first tray, I was given a few more and then allowed have my break. That went from 10.25am to 10.45am. We were were allowed have any of the food in the kitchen and some tea. After my break, my supervisor showed me how the sort the medications out for the Nursing Homes they catered for. We printed the stickers and collect the medication needed for each patient. I also learned how they remove the money from the patients account for the medication they need.

Me and Gemma got our lunch break at 1.30pm so we went to see Saz Creavo in Zest where we ordered chips :)) We saw her running around the restaurant. When we got back, my supervisor gave me more trays to organise and then I got to stamp lots of prescriptions. After stamping them all, with an aching arm, I was told to read about 4 different types of medication and report back to my supervisor after. As boring as it sounds, I enjoyed it as it gave me a chance to learn about the different type of medication used for different conditions people may have.

My supervisor let me leave at 4.30pm and I got the bus home to have food and cake :)))

C A R L I N G F O R D ♕

On Monday morning at 7am all TYs met in the Esso car park just around the corner from our school, to start our journey to Carlingford. We were spread out along the back row of the bus stuffing our faces for two hours until we eventually reached the small town.

We were allocated our rooms and allowed to go up to them to pick our beds and whatnot. We got the room of twelve but only eleven of us filled it. There was 150 euro worth of sweets in our room and all were eaten.

We met all the instructors that would be working with us in carlingford on the first day. Erin, Teddy♥️, Dave, Darren, Edel and Conor. They were so kind and helpful. The first day we were split into Group A and group B. Group A went out into the water, ten of us sat on a canoe and canoed out to a waterfall where one of our instructors Dave (very good looking) poured a cold bucket of water over our heads. It was exactly like doing the ice bucket challenge although a lot colder as we had just been in the water. We canoed back to shore but on our way we stopped at the trampoline and jumped off. Also where Sarah Creaven nearly killed me xx

After lunch we did a challenge course, which was like different games where they tried making us bond. Another school were there doing skyline which we all wanted to do. The best challenge course was when we were put into a massive black shed thing and there were three floors. There was no light or anything and we had to find our way out with no help. We didn't make it out in the half hour we were given but that was okay because it was really fun.

We went back to the adventure centre for 5 and had our dinner then at 7 we headed up to the forest and did a nightline challenge. We walked through the forest blindfolded and had to hold onto a rope that led us around. It was fun although everyone needed to be more enthusiastic. When we got back we walked to the chinese and to the shop and bought even more food for the night ahead. Me and a few of the girls went to sleep pretty early but the rest stayed up.

Day 2:

Our wakeup call was clearly dreaded. We were called down for breakfast at 07:45 and had to be ready to leave for 9. Our room was a mess, so that had to be cleaned and all our bags had to be packed. We went back to the water with instructors Teddy Dave and Fiona, oh and Gerry, and went kayaking and just played on the shore for a while before heading back for lunch. After lunch we walked to the forest again where we played laser tag for 2 hours. That was the best thing out of the two days. We all dressed in army overalls and had guns to kill each other with. We were split into two groups the blue and the red. I was on the red team. Even though we weren't allowed run, we all did anyway. Teddy is the instructor in the picture!

We left Carlingford town just after 4.30pm and started the long journey home. I was beside Aoife and we slept for most of it. Everyone was wrecked from all the walking and all the water sports. I think most people arms we're painful from all the canoeing and things. The bus still had a cheerful atmosphere which was good. That's what I like about my TY year, no matter how tired and down the year may be, there always seems to be a happy and cheerful atmosphere. We all bonded, and that was what the aim of the trip was. We even talked to some of the girls from the other school, and they were really nice.

Wednesday was a horrible day. Not really, just everyone was extremely tired from Carlingford. We had three workshops. One on work experience where we learned what to do when next Wednesday comes, the second was on Limits in Life, we learned how we should never be afraid to do something we want to. The speaker really did make an impact as I think everyone became more comfortable around each other and the third was etiquette again where we learned about fake tan and make up. That was my favourite. Thursday was also fun, we had classes up until 11.20 before heading of to NUI Maynooth for Kildare Enterprise on Mini Company. We got the bus over and spent two hours learning about Mini Company as a whole. Now all we need is an idea to compete and we'll be off!

I'm really happy I chose to do TY because it really has given us the chance to make more friends and become more confident in ourselves, and it is a break from working constantly. I love my class mates and my year. I love the things we've been doing since it stated and I would never drop out to go into 5th year even if I had the chance. I can't wait to start work experience next Wednesday, also my birthday woo ♥️

Seeya next week :)))

S'later third yeaaaar

Two days ago we got our junior cert results and it's safe to say there is nothing to worry about. I had completely over- panicked about the whole situation when really, it was nothing. Sure it's important to do well but when you know you've studied, nothing can go wrong. I'm just so happy now that third year is completely over and there is no more attachments to it!

TY's were allowed come in for 12, where we were lined up in our old base classes and given our results. I was too scared to open mine in the school with everyone around so we all left before opening them. We were so happy with our results.

Then onto the celebrations. More like one of the best nights of my life. Lots of us from Celbridge booked a party bus to bring us from home to the Wright Venue in Swords where we celebrated. Unfortunately the bus journey had no music, but it was still good in the way we got to talk to many people around us.

We didn't get home until late that night and the next day in school was awful. But many of the teachers understood how tired we were and didn't push us too much.

I'm excited for next week because we are going to Carlingford on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday we've got some workshops and Thursday we're heading off to Maynooth College to learn more about Mini Company. Our work experience beings on Wednesday the 24th of September ((my birthday woo!!)) and I'm also excited for that.

a new beginning

This is the end of our first full week in TY. We spent our first day meeting some of our new teachers but mostly bonding as a class. This year our class names we names after Disney Princesses, Ariel Belle and Aurora. My class name is Belle. I was put into a class with many of my friends and I love it.

Our first Wednesday of TY was spent doing workshops. The first was a positive party. Here we learned how to stay positive all the time and be calm in nerve wrecking situations. After break we went to first aid, where we all picked up some tips on how to keep our friends alive in case we got stuck in a sticky situation. And last but not least, a workshop on etiquette. Learning how to walk in heels was really an essential.

We're getting our results soon and I'm so so nervous, but I'm more excited for the night out with all my friends.
